MOUNT VERNON – The Cornell women's soccer team fell to Fontbonne 5-2 during another rain storm Sunday.
Dajana Scott-Smith (JR/Aurora, Colo.) scored 12 minutes into the second half on a breakaway from a pass from Avery Wyse (JR/Arvada, Colo.) to tie the game at 2-2.
Fontbonne scored the first two goals of the game 13 and 16 minutes into the game to take an early 2-0 lead. Ashley Quesada (SR/Blaine, Wash.) brought the Rams to within one on a great free kick goal with eight minutes left in the first half.
Fontbonne (2-4-2) would go on to score three more times in the second half to win the game.
The Rams (2-4) outshot their opponent 15-14 for the game. Sofia Schnur (SR/Redwood City, Calif.) once again led the Rams with five shots. Maddalin Doran (FR/Maple Grove, Minn.) and Sam O'Brien (SO/Evergreen, Colo.) each had three shots, Ashley Quesada and Scott-Smith had two shots each.
Elise Thomason-Larsen (SO/Superior, Colo.) played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Rams. She made eight saves in the game, five of them coming in the second half.
