BELOIT, Wis. – Cornell lost a 1-0 heartbreaker in its Midwest Conference men's soccer opener at Beloit Saturday afternoon.
The Rams (1-6-1 overall, 0-1 MWC) played well and fought hard down to the wire, but Beloit (3-5-2 overall, 1-0 MWC) was able to come away with the winning goal with just one minute left in the game.
Cornell outshot Beloit 20-11 in the game. Andrew Lopez (FR/Aurora, Colo.) led the Rams with six shots. Sam Duff (JR/Fort Collins, Colo.) attempted four shots. Facundo Benavidez (SR/Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Tyler Davis (JR/St. Andrews, Jamaica) had two shots each.
Kendall Nichols (SO/South Holland, Ill.), Justin Howe (SO/Sedalia, Colo.), Blake Soto (FR/Oak Park, Ill.), Daniel Edwards (SO/Lake Worth, Fla.), Enzo Vanzillotta (SR/Porto Alegre, Brazil) and Gabriel Ximenes (SR/Brasilia, Brazil) all had one shot.
Dylan Terrell (JR/Hickory Hills, Ill.) started the game in goal for the Rams. He played all 90 minutes and made three saves.
