Meeker tallies career-best 22 points in road loss

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Sophomore Jayden Meeker scored a career-high 22 points, although the Rams came up short down the stretch in Saturday's 68-61 Midwest Conference men's basketball loss at Lake Forest.

Meeker recorded his fifth double-digit scoring effort of the young season on efficient 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line for the Rams (1-6 overall, 0-2 MWC), who were neck and neck with the Foresters (2-6 overall, 1-2 MWC) for the majority of the game.

A Jordan Magnani 3-pointer pulled the Rams even at 56-56 with 5:28 to go in regulation. Lake Forest answered with a three on the ensuing possession and played with the lead the rest of the way.

Meeker's bucket trimmed the deficit to 59-58 with 3:41 remaining. The Foresters went on a 6-0 run over the next three minutes to put the game out of reach.

Magnani distributed a team-high four assists, making him the seventh Ram to register 300 in a career. He netted 12 points and also led the team with seven rebounds.

Zach Ingle buried three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points. Logan Christensen grabbed six rebounds.

The Rams shot 50.0 percent (9-of-18) from 3-point range and made all six of their free throws.

Johnny Roeser had 16 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Foresters, who shot 53.1 percent from the field for the game.

Coming up – The Rams are home Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest against in-state rival Grinnell (3-5 overall, 2-1 MWC).
