MOUNT VERNON – Cornell senior forward Marcus Quirk has been named recipient of the Midwest Conference Elite 20 Award for the 2021-22 men's basketball season.

Quirk was presented the award prior to tipoff of Friday's MWC semifinal game against Grinnell in Ripon, Wis. The 6-foot-6 four-year starter from Scotland also received the academic accolade in 2020.

The MWC Elite 20 Award recognizes the student-athlete with the highest grade point average among participants in their sport's culminating championship or tournament event.

The Rams have now claimed nine total MWC Elite 20 awards since its inception in 2015-16.

Quirk holds a perfect 4.0 GPA and is pursuing a double major in mathematics and computer science.

A three-time academic all-MWC performer, Quirk was selected a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American in 2020-21. He was named Cornell's Paul Maaske Scholar-Athlete this past fall.

Quirk entered the MWC Tournament averaging 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game with a team-best 46 made 3-point goals. He has posted impressive career totals of 877 points, 445 rebounds, 111 3-pointers and 107 assists through 85 games as a Ram.
