SHREVEPORT, La. –
Kyle Jussila and
Warren Wiberg combined for 10 goals to help kickstart Cornell's men's lacrosse season with a 16-10 nonconference win at Centenary Saturday at Mayo Field.
The Rams (1-0) outscored the visiting team 8-3 in the middle portion of the game to come away with the opening road win. Jussila scored four times after intermission and led all players with six goals, along with dishing two assists.
Wiberg was also key to Cornell's attack, delivering four goals on only eight shot attempts.

Jackson Kinart added three goals apiece.
Cornell controlled possession with a 29-16 advantage in ground balls, led by freshman
Ash Hoelscher's 10. Kinart and
Demarius Pittman had four ground balls apiece.

Evan Begner collected 16 saves over 45 minutes.
Thomas Cook closed out the game and posted four saves.
The Rams built a 9-4 lead with four unanswered goals – two from Wiberg – to start the second quarter. Cornell then pulled away late in the third quarter with three consecutive scores, stretching the margin to 14-7.
The Rams take on William Penn in a neutral-site exhibition at 1 p.m. Feb. 12 in Des Moines. Cornell's home opener is Feb. 26 against NCAA Division II Quincy University.
