RIPON, Wis. – Cornell was limited to four singles over seven innings and dropped an 11-0 baseball decision to Ripon with Midwest Conference playoff implications for both teams Friday at Francis Field.
The Rams (15-22 overall, 10-12 MWC) now look to regroup, needing to win both games against the Red Hawks (16-19 overall, 12-10 MWC) in Saturday's final doubleheader of the regular season to have a chance at an MWC Tournament berth. First pitch is at noon.
Ripon ace pitcher Mitchell Lukasik struck out 10 in handing the Rams just their second shutout loss in MWC play this spring.
Cornell had one baserunner reach past first base in the game.
Ryan Rader drew a two-out walk in the top of the second and advanced to second on a single by
Colin Konicek before the scoring threat ended.
Kale Rose,
Seth Beals and
James Kent also had one hit apiece for the Rams, who trailed 5-0 through two innings. Ripon broke the game open with a five-run fourth frame and added one more run in the fifth.
The Rams used five pitchers.
Cody Zahn worked a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
