-DES MOINES – Cornell's dance team competed at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association State Championships for the first time at Wells Fargo Arena and Hy-Vee Hall, held Nov. 29-30.
In the college team championships, the Rams placed second in the DII/DIII category of Pom while earning a Division I rating. The team is coached by Abby Patten and consists of freshmen

Nikauly Rios, sophomores
Anna Dewitt and
Katie Struck, and junior
Lillian Leon.
The ISDTA State Dance Championships host over 5,000 of the best dancers from across the state who perform more than 600 combined routines.
This marks the 17th year of the ISDTA State Championships hosting Iowa colleges, over 25 in total, competing in three categories of Pom, Hip Hop, and Jazz, which showcases the college team to the thousands of fans in attendance. Competitions range between Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA and Community College.
The Rams competed against Division I Iowa State, Northern Iowa and University of Iowa, Division II Upper Iowa, and Division III Coe, Central, Buena Vista University, Wartburg and Simpson.
