MACOMB, Ill. – Cornell's women's basketball team matched its season high with 11 made 3-point goals in Thursday's 116-55 setback to NCAA Division I Western Illinois University inside Western Hall.
The Rams (4-8) connected at a 44.0-percent clip (11-of-25) from long-range, led by senior
Kali March who buried five 3-pointers and finished with a team-best 15 points. March now has made a Midwest Conference-best 33 threes through 12 games, equaling her entire total from a season ago.
First-year guard
Heidi Jorgensen was also hot from downtown, sinking 4-for-5 threes to finish with 12 points.
Ani'ja Simmons chipped in 12 points and had two blocked shots.
Western Illinois (9-2), the No. 1 scoring team in the Ohio Valley Conference, was on target all night, hitting 17 3-pointers and shooting 60.0 percent from the field. The Leathernecks made 15-of-16 free throws and outrebounded the Rams by a 38-15 margin.
The Rams hung tough in the early going, building a 15-11 lead after a 3-pointer from
A'ryn Jackson five minutes into the game. The Leathernecks gained a 64-40 advantage at intermission and then reeled off 21 unanswered points to start the third quarter.

Mia Murray distributed three assists.
Western Illinois had three players top the 20-point mark, led by freshman Raegan McCowan's 30 points.
