JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Cornell first-year
Thomas Coble capped stellar debut at the Midwest Conference Track & Field Championships as the men's 3000-meter champion Saturday afternoon.

Coble continued Cornell's dominance in the 3000, a race the Rams have now won five of the last six indoor championships. He paced the 25-man field with a mark of 8:48.31 for his first MWC title. Coble edged Grinnell's runner-up Brian Goodell by .81 seconds.

Coble also anchored the distance medley relay of junior
Noah Lutzke, freshman
Jaxin McGuire and sophomore
Gabe Hunt to a photo finish for second place. Ripon nipped the Rams for the title by a mere .01 seconds.

The Rams registered 14 points in the 800, led by a runner-up effort from sophomore
Fisher Isaacson in 1:57.92. Sophomore teammate
Isaak Hutchings followed closely behind in third place (1:58.48).

Cornell's 4x400 relay took fifth (3:36.93) with the quartet of
Gavin Soukup, Isaacson,
Nathan Watters and Hutchings. Soukup added a point in the 400 (53.28), crossing eighth. Â

The Rams concluded the two-day meet with seven all-conference performances. Cornell scored 66 points for fifth place in the nine-team field.
