FOREST GROVE, OR – The Cornell women's lacrosse team lost to Pacific University Wednesday, 8-6, at Hanson Stadium.
In the first quarter, the Rams (5-3) responded to a pair of goals by the Boxers (2-7) with a pair of their own in a free position goal by freshman
Brynn Miroslavich and an unassisted goal by sophomore
Cece Zanoni with less than a minute remaining to tie the game.
The Boxers would score three straight goals stretching from the first quarter going into the second to take a 5-2 lead over the Rams.
Zanoni secured her second goal of the game in the second quarter to bring the Rams within two. With only 16 seconds left in the half, the Rams ran an offensive setup that allowed freshman
Sabrina Ibanez to get into position and score. The Rams closed in on the Boxers' lead, only down 6-4 after one half.
Two goals were scored in the third quarter by the Rams as Zanoni notched her third goal and sophomore
Meg Lewis scored the last goal of the quarter at the 30-second mark. The Rams went into the fourth quarter only down one, 7-6.
The Rams were held scoreless in the fourth only attempting three shots, as the Boxers added a goal at the 6:14 mark to ice the game against the Rams, 8-6.
Zanoni finished with three goals to lead the team on four shots. Lewis had one goal, four groundballs, and two draw controls. Miroslaivch accumulated one goal, two ground balls, and two draw controls. Ibanez finished with one goal for the Rams.
Hyland Cullen-Musengo for the Boxers finished with four goals on seven shots along with one assist for seven total points.
