Cook sets Cornell saves record in loss to Dubuque

MOUNT VERNON – Dubuque's 14 first-half goals were too much to overcome for Cornell's men's lacrosse team, despite record-breaking performances from Thomas Cook and Torii Greiskalns in Monday's 20-5 loss at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.

The Rams fell to 4-10 overall, 1-2 in MLC play while the Spartans improved to 6-7 overall and 2-1 in the MLC.

Cook continued his amazing defensive play, racking up 18 saves in 60 minutes of play. His saves move him to 235 total on the year, which breaks the school record of 221 set by Evan Begner last year.

Greiskalns also set a new Cornell milestone in caused turnovers as he now sits at 35 which ties the record for most in a season, set by Justin Howe last year.

The Spartans capitalized on their shot opportunities, more than doubling the attempts by Cornell. The Rams had 11 shots on goal with 20 total chances.

Luke Baldwin finished with three goals and one assist on seven shots. Kyle Jussila and Rory MacLean had a goal each. Jussila also had two assists, three ground balls, and six shots.

Aidan Culligan for the Spartans finished with five goals to lead all scorers.

Coming up - The Rams take on Lake Forest Saturday, April 22 for a 1 pm start in Lake Forest, Ill.
