GRINNELL – The Cornell softball team played Grinnell College in a Midwest Conference doubleheader on Saturday and lost 5-3 and 20-3 after a four-run sixth in Game 1 kept the Pioneers undefeated in conference play.
The Rams (11-19, 6-6 MWC) fought hard against the Pioneers (23-11, 12-0) only surrendering one run through five innings.

Alyssa Pearson held the top-scoring team in the league to only one run through five innings and was pivotal in keeping the Pioneers at bay as she had three 1-2-3 innings to skid the Pioneers early.
Peyton Souhrada continues her impressive freshman campaign with her team-leading 10
th double in the top of the fourth inning for the first score of the game for either team. Sourhada also scored a run in the sixth inning as the Rams went up 3-1 over the Pioneers before their comeback.
The Rams dropped Game 2 to the Pioneers after they jumped out to an early lead behind a 19-run, 11-hit first inning.
Coming up – Cornell hosts the Scots of Monmouth in a conference doubleheader matchup tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Van Metre Family Softball Field.
