FOND DU LAC, Wisc. – The Cornell College women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw in their non-conference matchup against Marian on Sunday.
For 55 straight minutes the Sabres (4-2-3) were held scoreless by the Rams (0-4-3), which they utilized by jumping ahead 2-0 in the first half behind goals by sophomores
Gwen Westervelt and
Krystin Kamrath.
Westervelt's goal came at 41:51 with Kamrath's goal within 13 seconds of the end of the half. Westervelt and Kamrath each had two shots, with teammates
India Smith,
Amelia Brown,
Elissafe Moreno, and
Ana Munn Carstensen each registering one shot.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Sabrina Ibanez secured 13 saves in the tie decision that saw her play all 90 minutes. This is third game this year that Ibanez had 10 or more saves. She has totaled 65 saves on the year in seven games played.
With two goals in the second half, the Sabres cut into the Rams' lead to draw the tie.
