MOUNT VERNON – Cornell saw a five-match series unbeaten streak snapped against rival Coe in Wednesday's 2-0 men's soccer loss on its home turf.
The Kohawks (4-5-1) converted on a first-half corner kick and added a penalty kick early in the second to claim their first win in Mount Vernon since 2017.
Cornell (3-6) outshot the visitors, 6-5, in the second half although couldn't break through in the physical contest.
Aidan Lerch led Cornell's attack with three shots, including two on goal.
Jake Elmore and
George Archer had two attempts apiece. Archer had a penalty kick denied by Coe goalkeeper Jr. Holland in the 56th minute with the Kohawks leading 1-0.

Will Bickel notched six saves in a 90-minute effort. He stopped four shots after intermission.
The Kohawks extended their lead to 4-0 in the
2024-25 Bremner Cup All-Sports Series. The next head-to-head competition is men's basketball Nov. 8 in Mount Vernon.
