MOUNT VERNON – The young Rams had a tough task at Midwest Conference contender Grinnell Tuesday, dropping a 5-0 women's soccer decision at Springer Field.
Cornell (2-11 overall, 1-4 MWC), which earned its first league win on Saturday, fell behind 2-0 at halftime and couldn't recover against the Pioneers (7-4-2 overall, 4-1 MWC), who climbed to third place in the MWC standings.
Sabrina Ibanez reached double-digit saves for the second time this month, stopping 10 shots in a complete-game effort. The junior recorded six saves over the final 45 minutes.
The Rams were limited to one shot on goal in the second half by
Eva Plathe. Grinnell totaled 24 shots for the match and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
