CEDAR RAPIDS – Cornell first-year
Erin Knowles reached double figures scoring for the fourth consecutive game in Wednesday's 58-39 women's basketball loss to rival Coe at Kohawk Arena.
Knowles netted 13 points on efficient 5-of-8 shooting from the field for the Rams (1-3), who hung within six points at intermission before the Kohawks (4-1) pulled away.
Coe scored 18 of the first 20 points to start the game. Cornell climbed back in it with defense, holding the Kohawks to three second-quarter points and trimmed the deficit to 21-15 at the half.
The Kohawks opened the third quarter on another big scoring run in building the lead to 39-20, which Cornell couldn't overcome.
Ilyana Caceres gave the Rams eight points off the bench, including a pair of 3-point goals.
Heidi Jorgensen chipped in six points. Cornell received four rebounds apiece from Knowles, Jorgensen and
A'ryn Jackson.
With the win, Coe extended its lead to 5-2 in the
2024-25 Bremner Cup All-Sports Series.
Coming up – The Rams travel to play North Central Tuesday for a 5 p.m. tipoff in Minneapolis, Minn.
