ASHLAND, Wis. – Cornell's women's basketball team enjoyed a feast of historic proportions Saturday afternoon with an 88-23 victory over Northland at Kendrigan Gymnasium.
The Rams (3-3) had 13 players score and held Northland to four made field goals through three quarters in the dominant nonconference showing.
The 65-point final difference is the third-largest margin of victory in program history. Cornell's 88 points are the most scored in a game since the Rams put up 102 in a home win over Knox on Jan. 6, 2016.
Freshman
Erin Knowles led Cornell's offensive explosion with 19 points and
Heidi Jorgensen did not miss a shot in netting 16 points, highlighted by a 4-of-4 touch from 3-point range.
The Rams received 47 points from their bench, paced by
Kiley Edris with 11 points and three 3-point goals.
Mya Janssen and
Bradie Buffington contributed eight points apiece, followed by
Tenley Cavanagh with six.
Knowles and Janssen shared team-high honors with five rebounds apiece.
A'ryn Jackson dished four assists and Jorgensen had three steals.
Cornell drained 11 3-pointers and made 11-of-12 free throws. The LumberJills (0-5) shot a chilly 17.4 percent from the field.
The Rams led 22-6 after one quarter and 49-13 at the half. Cornell outscored the home team, 21-1, in the third quarter.
