BELOIT, Wis. – Senior
Jayden Meeker recorded his 1,000th career point Saturday in guiding the Rams to an 85-71 men's basketball win over Midwest Conference foe Beloit at Flood Arena.
Meeker finished the contest with a team-high 18 points and reached the scoring milestone on a layup with 3:22 left in regulation. The 6-foot-4 all-conference guard became the 27th member of Cornell's 1,000-point club, and the second Ram to hit the mark in three weeks (
Zach Ingle).
Meeker has now accumulated 1,005 points in 85 career games with the Rams.
Cornell (7-3 overall, 3-1 MWC) had five players score in double figures against the Buccaneers (3-5 overall, 1-2 MWC), including
Dylan Hurley with 17 points.
Caleb Leslie canned four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points, while
Keon Talgo and
Arnav Jain pitched in 11 points apiece.
The Rams overcame an early 15-7 deficit and led 41-34 at intermission. Cornell put up 44 points in the second half – 11 by Hurley – to claim the double-digit road win.
Jaylan Bradberry and Hurley led the Rams on the boards with nine and eight rebounds, respectively. Meeker posted five assists and three steals.
Cornell connected on 11 3-pointers in the contest and held a 24-6 advantage in points off turnovers.
