SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Cornell's women's wrestling team took on a tough assignment Sunday, dropping a 48-0 dual meet to NCAA Division II foe Sioux Falls at the Stewart Center.
Cornell's
Addison Thrash (124 pounds) and
Sydney Newberg (160) lost their respective matches by technical fall against the undefeated Cougars (2-0).
Milar Little (110),
Cheyenne Mulford (117),
Kyla Andrew (131),
Ciara Gomez-Bryant (138) and
Emma Stevenson (180) all lost by fall.
The Rams (0-4) were open at three weight classes.
On Saturday, Cornell landed six placewinners at the Buena Vista Open in Storm Lake.
Little finished fourth in the 110-pound bracket. Her day included an 8-5 decision over Upper Iowa's Bentley Hills. The Rams also received a fourth-place finish from Gomez-Bryant at 138.
At 124,
Addison Thrash placed sixth and
Ava Garcia took seventh. Mulford finished seventh at 117 and Andrew was eighth at 131.
Cornell 145-pounder
Jasmine McCaskel recorded a 12-1 technical fall over Central's Madilyn Rowson in her only match of the day.
Coming up – The Rams host the program's first-ever women's dual meet Friday at 7 p.m. against Central in the Small Athletic and Wellness Center.
