MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's men's track & field team has earned a No. 19 national ranking as it enters the championship phase of the 2024 indoor season.
The Rams, under second-year head coach
Jerry Monner, received 38.47 points in this week's
USTFCCCA National Track & Field Rating Index. This is the program's highest NCAA Division III ranking since the inception of the poll in 2010.
Cornell made the biggest leap of any Division III men's program in the Top 25, climbing 17 spots from last week's ranking. The Rams are the only nationally-ranked team in the Midwest Conference.
The Rams feature one of the nation's elite distance runners in sophomore Isaac vanWestrienen, who ranks No. 1 in the 3000-meter run (8:03.97), No. 4 in the 5000 (14:00.90) and No. 19 in the mile (4:08.16). All marks are converted times from flat tracks.
Cornell competes at the
MWC Championships Friday and Saturday in Ripon, Wis. The Rams are seeded first in five men's events.
