Jayden Meeker and
Zach Ingle have been recognized on the
2023-24 All-Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Teams, as announced Thursday by the league office.
Meeker landed on the six-player first team, while Ingle garnered second team honors. Both high-scoring guards earned second team accolades in 2022-23.
Meeker paced Cornell in scoring at 18.9 points per game, marking the highest season average by a Ram since 2013-14 (Reggie Greenwood, 19.7 ppg). The 6-foot-4 high-flying Meeker also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and shot 48.3 percent from the field – all team-highs – while collecting 26 steals.
In conference play, Meeker ranked second in the league in scoring (21.5 ppg), fourth in field goal percentage (49.3), fourth in assists (3.3 apg) and fourth in free throw percentage (72.5). He logged an MWC-high 35.8 minutes per game.
Meeker topped the 20-point mark 12 times this season, including seven consecutive games against MWC foes from Jan. 6-31 and highlighted by a career-high 33-point outing against Grinnell. Meeker has totaled 880 points through three seasons.
Ingle emerged as one of the league's elite shooters with 77 made 3-point goals, just two shy of Cornell's single-season record. He attempted a program-record 197 threes and shot 39.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Ingle averaged 16.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and shot 80.0 percent from the foul line. In MWC-only games, he ranked second in 3-pointers made per game (3.3), second in 3-point percentage (40.3) and sixth in scoring (16.8 ppg) while sinking 21-of-23 free throws.
Ingle has hit at least one 3-pointer in 31 consecutive games and enters next season with 894 career points. He stands No. 7 on Cornell's career chart for made 3-pointers with 160.
The young Rams finished 9-16 overall, 6-10 in the MWC. All five starters are projected back next season.
