CHICAGO, Ill. – Cornell's attack had limited opportunities against Illinois Tech in Saturday's 12-3 men's lacrosse loss at Stuart Field.
The Scarlet Hawks (2-1) took control early in building a 5-0 lead and held Cornell (0-2) to nine shots for the day. The Rams converted 17-of-21 clear chances, although were plagued by 38 turnovers.
Cornell goalie
Thomas Cook posted 16 saves while working all 60 minutes in net.
Ash Hoelscher won 11-of-14 faceoffs and grabbed two ground balls.
Tyler Foster and
Torii Greiskalns led the team with three ground balls apiece.
Freshman
Charley Kobets delivered Cornell's first goal at the 10:51 mark of the second quarter. The Rams added two more scores in the third period, by
Gavin Ravalli and Foster.
Illinois Tech had nine different players register a goal.
