RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Cornell's women's lacrosse team earned a weekend split against two undefeated Wisconsin foes, highlighted by Saturday's 9-6 victory over UW-Stout.
The Rams came up short in Sunday's 16-7 setback to UW-River Falls, moving the Rams to 4-1 on the season.
Cornell netted six second-half goals against UW-Stout to pull away for its fourth consecutive win.
India Smith scored three times to pace the Rams, with all of her goals coming after intermission.
Sabrina Ibanez delivered two goals, including the game-clincher that provided the final margin with 7:48 left in regulation.
Goalie
Hannah Miech earned the win, allowing just one first-half goal. Smith added eight ground balls and five caused turnovers. The Rams received single goals from
Brynn Miroslavich,
Meg Lewis,
Cece Zanoni and
Cheyenne Greenenwald. Zanoni also had two assists.
On Sunday, Cornell fell behind 9-1 at intermission before picking up steam in the second half against UW-River Falls (3-0). Smith had another dynamic offensive game with five goals.
Zanoni and Ibanez contributed one goal apiece for Cornell.
Miech registered a season-high 13 saves in 50 minutes of work.
