MILWAUKEE, Wis. – It was another record-setting night for Cornell's women's lacrosse team, which rallied for seven second-half goals to earn an 11-9 nonconference win over MSOE Wednesday at Viets Field.
Coach
Meredith Meier's Rams improved their glossy record to 11-2 overall, breaking the program standard for wins in a season set last spring.
Junior attacker
Cece Zanoni netted five goals to climb atop Cornell's career list with 115. She took down the all-time record of 114 goals scored by Sydney Cooper (2015-18).
Earlier this spring, Zanoni established Cornell records for points (currently 151) and assists (36) in a career.
Zanoni fueled Cornell's comeback against MSOE (2-5), scoring twice during a 4-0 run to start the third quarter that put the Rams ahead 8-5. Cornell built the lead to 11-6 in the final period and didn't look back.
Senior
India Smith made her presence felt with three goals, eight ground balls and nine draw controls.
Anna Methe scored twice and
Brynn Miroslavich pitched in one goal.
Meg Lewis delivered four assists for the Rams, who have lost just once since March 10.
Hannah Miech notched her 11th victory in goal, saving nine shots over 60 minutes.
Coming up – Cornell (1-1 MLC) travels to play Northwestern for a Midwest Lacrosse Conference matchup at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.
