MOUNT VERNON – Junior
Thomas Cook broke Cornell's career saves record Saturday as the Rams fell 15-11 in a Midwest Lacrosse Conference battle with Northwestern at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
Cook collected 11 saves against the Eagles (4-5 overall, 1-2 MLC) and passed Evan Kedjidjian (2015-18) atop the program's all-time list with 469 in his 33rd game at goalie. The all-conference performer reached double-digit saves for the fifth consecutive contest.
Luke Baldwin netted a team-high four goals on his Senior Day. All of his scores came after intermission as the Rams (5-7 overall, 0-2 MLC) worked their way back from a 9-4 halftime deficit.
Cornell closed within 12-9 on a
Tyler Foster goal late in the third period. The Rams were still within striking distance after Baldwin's fourth goal cut the margin to 14-11 with 5:07 left in regulation.
Matt Norwood and
Tyler Foster posted two goals apiece for the Rams, who converted 23-of-27 clears and held a 53-52 edge in ground balls. Foster also assisted on two scores.
Charley Kobets,
Brandon Warnke and
Caden Lynch had one goal apiece.
Torii Greiskalns, Baldwin and Cook shared the team lead with six ground balls.
Ben Schwartz had three caused turnovers.
