MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's attack was held scoreless for the first time this season as the Rams dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to Simpson Wednesday on their home turf.
For the second time in four days, the Rams (2-2) were tied with a formidable opponent inside the 10-minute mark and came up just short.
Tim Sedlock delivered for Simpson (3-2) with 9:47 remaining in the match. Cornell goalkeeper
Jeremy Spina stopped Sedlock's initial attempt at the goal, although the shot came right back to Sedlock who knocked in the deflection.
The Rams totaled 11 shots against the Storm, who took sixth-ranked Colorado College down to the wire in a 1-0 loss Sunday. Cornell had scoring chances throughout, including a second-half goal that was wiped out due to an offsides.
Aidan Lerch,
George Archer and
Justice Toledo each had a shot on goal for the Rams. Spina faced 21 shots from the Storm and finished with five saves.
Coming up – The Rams travel to play 2023 NCAA qualifier Wartburg (1-2-1) at 6 p.m. Sept. 19 in Waverly.
