WAVERLY – Cornell's men's soccer team had its hands full against defending American Rivers Conference Tournament champion Wartburg in a 7-0 loss Thursday night at Salzwedel Field.
The Rams (2-3) hung within two goals at halftime before Wartburg (3-2-2) broke it open over the final 45 minutes.
All four of Cornell's shots in the match came after intermission.
Eddie Garces had the team's lone shot on goal against the Knights, an NCAA Tournament qualifier last season.
The Rams used 24 players in the match.
Will Bickel drew his first start of the season at goalkeeper, posting three saves and allowing three goals in 62 minutes.
Jeremy Spina and
Kian Farrell each had one save in relief.
Leading 2-0, the Knights scored five times during a 29-minute stretch in the second half to pull away. They attempted 28 shots in the contest.
