Graves sisters reach ITA Midwest Regional doubles round of 16

SAINT PETER, Mn - The Cornell women's tennis team had a strong-two day performance at the ITA Midwest Regional and Midwest Invite, led by twin sisters Mac Graves & Tansy Graves, who became the first Cornell doubles pair to reach the round of 16 in the main draw since 2013.

The Rams finished 5-8 overall between both the ITA Midwest Regional and the Midwest Invite events.

Tansy & Mac Graves had impressive outings competing in the ITA singles and doubles main draws. Tansy Graves battled for a 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 win over Sophia Cosgrove of St. Scholastica in the round of 128. She fell in the second round to #5 seeded Kelsey Dorr of St. Catherine 6-0, 6-2.

Mac Graves equaled her counterpart, also claiming a round of 128 victory, 6-3, 6-3 over Saint Benedict's Greta Nesbit. She dropped her round of 64 match to #5 seed Paige Sargent of Grinnell, 6-1 6-1.

This weekend marked the first time since 2017 that Cornell had two players reach the round of 64 at the regional event.

The sisters finished 2-1 in doubles reaching the round of 16 in the ITA main draw. In the first round, facing a 0-4 deficit, the duo rallied to upend #9 seed Natasa Pupovac/Katherine Trifilo of Carroll 8-6. Continuing their stellar play, the pair took out Katia Bartels/Sophia Cosgrove from St. Scholastica 8-5 in the round of 32. The Graves' dropped their final doubles match to the #2 seed Allison Szalay/Molly Austin of host Gustavus Adolphus, 8-2.

Teammates Alyssa Flynn and Isabella Wallin competed in the Midwest Invite singles and doubles draws. Flynn finished 1-2 in singles.

In the round of 16, Flynn came back from a set down to defeat St. Olaf's Lila Coval 2-6, 6-3, 10-7. In the quarterfinals, Flynn faced Erica Wing of St. Catherine, falling 6-2, 6-1.
