Cornell to enshrine four in 2024 Hall of Fame Class

| By:
MOUNT VERNON – Two prolific basketball scorers, a trend-setting runner and a tennis all-American will be enshrined in Cornell College's Athletics Hall of Fame during Saturday's Homecoming festivities on campus.

The 2024 Hall of Fame class features Camille Marie '13 (women's basketball), Griffin LaDew '09 (men's basketball/golf), Rachelle (Hawkins) Crawford '09 (women's cross country/track & field) and Bradley Wright '76 (men's tennis/football/swimming).

The inductions will be held Saturday in conjunction with the Alumni C Club Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Smith Dining Room at the Thomas Commons. The new inductees will also be recognized at halftime of Saturday's football game against Ripon at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.

Camille Marie
Marie was the 6-foot-2 all-American center on Cornell's most successful women's basketball team in 2012-13, which marked the Rams' first season back in the Midwest Conference. The Marion, Iowa native guided the Rams to a record-setting 25-2 campaign, culminating with the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Rams blitzed through the MWC regular season with a 17-1 mark for their first conference championship in 31 years. Cornell claimed the MWC Tournament crown and was awarded hosting rights for the 2013 NCAA Regional. The team celebrated a 76-54 win over St. Scholastica in its NCAA debut and then dropped a 53-52 nail-biter to St. Thomas in the regional final.

That senior season, Marie was tabbed MWC Player of the Year, First Team All-Central Region and Fourth Team All-American by D3hoops.com, becoming the first Ram in program history to gain all-America status. The four-time all-conference selection was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team and voted Cornell's Russell W. Landis Award recipient during her final year on the Hilltop.

Marie graduated as Cornell's career scoring leader and currently stands No. 2 with 1,441 points. She holds program records for made field goals (432) and made free throws (367) in a career. As a freshman, Marie set single-season marks for free throws made (129) and free throws attempted (174).

Cornell's 2010 First-Year Female Athlete of the Year ranks No. 3 on the program's career list in blocked shots (109) and No. 4 in rebounds (712). Marie started 96 of 98 career games for coach Brent Brase.

Griffin LaDew
LaDew helped transform Cornell men's basketball into championship caliber as one of the most dead-eye shooters in program history. The Pewaukee, Wis., native became the first Ram to eclipse 1,500 career points and currently ranks No. 3 on the all-time scoring chart with 1,561 points.

LaDew owns school records for 3-pointers made in a career (240) and season (79). The three-time all-conference shooting guard was nearly automatic from the foul line, establishing program marks for free throw percentage in a career (88.1) and season (94.8). LaDew's 531 career made field goals are fourth-most by a Ram.

The NABC Scholar All-American was a senior captain on the Rams' historic 2008-09 squad which saw the team capture the Iowa Conference Tournament title with a 58-56 home win over Wartburg. It was Cornell's only men's team championship during its previous membership in the IIAC.

The Rams qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 15 years. Cornell finished with a school-record 21 wins, marking a drastic turnaround from LaDew's 3-22 team his freshman year.

LaDew started his final 99 games as a Ram – a school record – and is among the program's all-time Top 10 leaders in 10 statistical categories. He was named Cornell's 2009 Paul K. Scott Senior Male Athlete of the Year.

Rachelle Crawford
Crawford raised the standard for Cornell's distance runners in cross country and track & field. The Boise, Idaho, native ended the program's 15-year absence from the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2008, when Crawford qualified and finished 65th.

Crawford earned all-Iowa Conference honors in cross country three times, including a fourth-place showing in 2008. The two-time all-region performer broke Cornell's 6K record and claimed 10 top-five individual finishes from 2005-08. She was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual during her final two seasons.

On the track, Crawford became the third female indoor all-American in school history with an eighth-place effort in the mile at the 2009 NCAA Championships. She collected four all-IIAC indoor medals, landing a spot on the podium in each of her four seasons.

Crawford was the school-record holder in seven track events at one point in her career. She still holds the fastest indoor times in the 1000, mile and distance medley relay. Crawford received academic all-conference honors twice in cross country and three times in track & field.

Bradley Wright
Wright made history on the tennis court, where he finished his Cornell career as an all-American at the 1976 NCAA Championships. The Topeka, Kan., native partnered with Scott Haymond for a formidable doubles pair, going 2-1 at nationals and advancing to the quarterfinals to earn all-America accolades.

Wright also won a singles match in his NCAA debut. He led the Rams to a program-best sixth-place team finish at nationals.

Wright was Cornell's No. 1 player during a banner-filled 1976 season in which the Rams went undefeated in duals with a 10-0 mark. Wright won the MWC championship at No. 1 doubles, becoming Cornell's first conference titlist in the sport. That senior year, he fashioned a 14-2 doubles record and went 10-2 in singles during the regular season.

Wright played at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles all four seasons for the Rams. He was also a school-record holder on the swim team and lettered four years in football.
