LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Senior
Dylan Hurley poured in a career-high 27 points, although the Rams couldn't keep pace with hot-shooting Lake Forest in Saturday's 95-72 Midwest Conference men's basketball loss on the road.
The Rams (9-5 overall, 3-2 MWC) settled for a regular-season split with Lake Forest (6-8 overall, 3-2 MWC). The teams are now tied for third place in the league race.
Hurley enjoyed his best offensive outing in two seasons as a Ram with an efficient 12-of-17 shooting night from the field. The 6-foot-3 forward also collected five rebounds and a team-best four assists.
Jayden Meeker and
Connor Barnett added 17 and 12 points, respectively, for Cornell, which endured a tough 3-of-22 shooting game from 3-point range. Meeker and Barnett shared team-high honors with six rebounds apiece.
The Foresters shot 61.7 percent from the floor in the opening half and built a 51-41 lead at intermission. Lake Forest played with a double-digit lead the entire second half.
Alex Knight carried Lake Forest with a 33-point effort. The Foresters won the battle on the boards, 40-26.
Coming up – Cornell plays host to second-place Monmouth (10-4 overall, 4-1 MWC) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Small Athletic and Wellness Center.
