RIPON, Wis. – Cornell's men's soccer team hung with Ripon despite playing a man down most of the match in Wednesday's 1-0 Midwest Conference setback at Hopp Stadium.
An early red card forced the Rams (2-7 overall, 0-1 MWC) to play short-handed for the final 77 minutes of their MWC opener. Ripon (6-3-1 overall, 1-1 MWC) took advantage midway through the first half with an assisted goal, which held up as the only score of the night.
Cornell was limited to three shots, two coming from
Kyriacos Photiou and the other by
Jake Elmore. Photiou had the team's lone shot on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper
Jack Massey faced 13 shots from the Red Hawks. He recorded three saves in the complete-game effort.
The Red Hawks held on in the second half for their first series home win over the Rams since 2015.
