Sabrina Ibanez racked up 19 saves – one shy of her career high – in Saturday's 9-1 women's soccer setback to Midwest Conference leader Lake Forest.
The Foresters (16-0 overall, 6-0 MWC) displayed their offensive prowess with 45 total shots in the match and remained one of only two unbeaten and untied upon teams in NCAA Division III.
The young Rams (2-12 overall, 0-5 MWC) denied Lake Forest's shutout bid with a goal by first-year forward
Macky Larkin early in the second half. Larkin's third score of the season came off an assist from
Krystin Kamrath.
Ibanez, ranked among the Top 25 nationally in saves, boosted her impressive season total to 132. The senior recorded 11 of her saves in the second half Saturday.
Gracie Lambrecht led Cornell's offense with three shots, followed by Larkin and Kamrath each with two.
Lake Forest, ranked fifth nationally in scoring offense, built a 5-0 lead at halftime and then scored four more times during an 11-minute span in the second half.
Coming up – The Rams are home next Saturday, Oct. 25 to face Monmouth (6-5-3 overall, 2-2-2 MWC) for a Breast Cancer Awareness match at 11 a.m.
