MOUNT VERNON – The young Rams team that continues to improve each week gave a talented Monmouth team all they could handle before falling 3-2 in Midwest Conference women's soccer action Saturday.
The Rams (2-13 overall, 0-6 MWC) found the back of the net first when
Macky Larkin scored on a nifty pass from
Krystin Kamrath. The goal was the fourth of the season for freshman Larkin.
Monmouth (7-5-3 overall, 3-2-2 MWC) then reeled off three straight goals, the last five minutes into the second half, before
Gwen Westervelt scored her first goal of the season at the midway point of the second half.
Mia Belitz picked up the assist.

Sabrina Ibanez worked hard in the net picking up eight saves on 11 Fighting Scots shots on goal.
The Rams out shot Monmouth 24-17, as well as shots on goal 15-11. Ava Plathe, Grace Lambrecht and Belitz had three shots of goal. Larkin and Kamrath had two each.
Gracie Abben, and Westervelt each had one.
Coming up – The Rams have their home finale on Tuesday against Knox (3-9-3 overall, 0-4-2 MWC) at Cornell Soccer Field. Game time is 4 p.m.
