Pulis' pin clinches 25-17 dual win at Central

PELLA – With Thursday's women's wrestling dual meet up for grabs in the final match of the night, sophomore 207-pounder Maddie Pulis pulled the Rams through with a first-period pin to seal Cornell's 25-17 victory over Central at Kuyper Gymnasium.  
 
The Rams improved to 2-1 in duals, already equaling their wins total from last season. Cornell defeated Central for the second time in 12 days.
 
Cornell led 20-17 going into the decisive bout at 207. Pulis made quick work of Atalissa Lobberecht with the clinching fall in 1:08.
  
The Rams rallied from a 12-11 deficit with four matches to go. At 145, Graciela Juarez put Cornell back ahead with a pin in 1:47. Cornell 160-pounder Olivia Cotton followed with a 10-0 technical fall that stretched the lead to 20-12.
 
Angelica Benitez (110) and Rachel Richey (124) both received forfeit wins for the Rams.
 
Central earned wins at 131 (10-0 technical fall over Evie Anderson), 138 (14-11 decision over Averi Burke) and 180 (pin in 5:02 over Sidney Zimmerman).
 
Coming up – The Rams compete at the Buena Vista Open Dec. 6 in Storm Lake.
