Late TD pushes Rams past Grinnell in season finale, 22-17

GRINNELL – BooBoo Browning's 5-yard touchdown rush with four minutes to go capped his career-best day and secured Cornell's seesaw 22-17 Midwest Conference football victory over Grinnell Saturday at Rosenbloom Field.

The Rams wrapped up Curt Ritchie's first season as head coach with a 4-6 overall record, 4-5 in the MWC. Cornell compiled an impressive 4-1 mark on the road in 2025 and notched its 13th consecutive series victory over Grinnell (2-8, 2-7 MWC).

In a back-and-forth game that featured six lead changes, Browning ended Cornell's go-ahead 7-play, 72-yard drive with his seventh rushing TD of the season to put the Rams ahead for good. Cornell's defense stopped Grinnell twice to seal the victory.

Browning posted a career-high 123 yards on the ground for his second 100-yard rushing effort in the last three games.

Senior wideout Rommel Pinner finished his collegiate career in style, hauling in an 88-yard TD pass from Mason Dew in the waning minutes of the second quarter. Pinner's TD was Cornell's longest scoring play since Blake MacDowall's 95-yard kickoff return against Monmouth in 2017. Pinner accounted for a game-high 101 receiving yards.

Dew passed for a season-high 243 yards and two TDs, which included an 8-yarder to Nolan Senne that put Cornell ahead 16-14 with 10:46 left in the third quarter.

Julius Jenkins led the defense with eight tackles, four solo. Jenkins, Dakota Ambush, Caleb Smith, and Hunter Kollasch recorded a tackle for loss. Ambush forced a fumble.

Safety Isaiah Dean broke up two passes. Savian Perez and Zavion Jordan disrupted one pass apiece.

Cornell accumulated 422 yards of total offense on 70 plays, second only to its 432-yard output against Knox two weeks ago. The Rams gained 21 first downs to Grinnell's 11.

Cornell converted 6-of-13 third downs, and scored on 3-of-5 red zone chances. Defensive coordinator Michael Juscik's Rams held Grinnell to just 3-of-14 on third downs, and stopped the Pioneers twice on fourth down.

Mitchell Frahm made his third field goal of the season, a 30-yard attempt in the first quarter.

The Rams sent 18 seniors off on a victorious note.
