MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's women's basketball team got their offense going early, scoring 21 in the first quarter in an 81-38 victory over Marian on Friday night inside the Small Athletic and Wellness Center.
The Rams (4-4 overall) had three players in double figures, led by
Erin Knowles with 18 points. Freshman
Kallynn Stroup scored 11 points and Junior
Heidi Jorgensen netted 10 points.
Cornell defense was stellar holding Marion (0-8) to 27% shooting on the night, while the Rams shot 44% for the game.
The Rams had 11 players score, with the bench picking up 37 points.
Hailey Testolin had eight points off the bench,
Darby Haley and
Mya Janssen added six points apiece.
Savanna Robinson and Rylee Van Dresar each had five.
Cornell out rebounded the Sabres 50-32, Janssen led the Rams with seven boards. Knowles and Stroup each had six.
Sophomore
Maya Hodge led Cornell with six assists, freshman
Caroline Kron dished out four. Knowles led the Rams with three steals.
Coming up – The Rams travel to Decorah to face Luther (5-3 overall) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
