MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's three-game winning streak was snapped against a high-octane Carthage team Wednesday afternoon, falling 17-3 in men's lacrosse nonconference action at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
The Rams (3-2) surrendered eight unanswered goals to start the game against the Firebirds (7-1), who opened a 13-2 advantage by halftime.
Matt Norwood paced Cornell's attack with two goals on only four attempts.
Torii Greiskalns also scored for the Rams, who received one assist each from
Brandon Warnke and
Vernon Stevens.

Thomas Cook posted 15 saves and a team-high eight ground balls over 54 minutes.
Nathan Diveley came on to finish the game in goal.
The Rams converted 20-of-25 clear attempts. Carthage held a 43-25 advantage in ground balls.
Coming up – Cornell hosts College of DuPage in a scrimmage at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rams open NACC play next Wednesday, March 19 against Marian at 4 p.m. in Fond du Lac, Wis.
