MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's men's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by 20-time defending Midwest Conference champion Grinnell in Saturday's MWC opener at the hilltop.
The Rams (11-7, 0-1 MWC) surrendered the doubles point to the Pioneers. Cornell dropped each of their singles matches in straight sets. Freshmen
Drew Campbell at No. 3, and
Sam Cumicek at No. 5 fought tough in 6-0 6-2 and 6-3 6-0 losses respectively.
Coming up – The Rams continue MWC play on the road next Saturday, playing at Monmouth and Illinois College. First serve is set for 9am at Monmouth.
