AURORA, Ill. – Cornell's women's lacrosse team was tripped up by perennial power Aurora, 15-6, in Wednesday's regular-season finale at Spartan Athletic Park.
 
A few hours following the conclusion, coach Meredith Meier's Rams were awarded a first-round home game in the six-team NACC Tournament which starts this weekend.
 
Cornell (7-8 overall) finished in a tie for fourth place in the NACC standings with Milwaukee School of Engineering at 5-4. The Rams won the head-to-head meeting, 10-7, on April 6.
 
The Rams will play host to No. 5 seed MSOE (5-11 overall) in a quarterfinal game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
 
Second-place Aurora (11-6 overall, 8-1 NACC) took control early against the Rams and built an 8-2 lead at intermission. The Spartans outshot the Rams for the game, 32-15.
 
Sabrina Ibanez posted two goals and five ground balls to pace the Rams. Meg Lewis, Cece Zanoni, Natalie Hudgins and Cheyenne Greenenwald contributed one goal apiece. Zanoni's goal was her 50th of the season.
 
Cornell goalie Hannah Miech worked all 60 minutes, collecting 13 saves and a team-high six ground balls.
