AURORA, Ill. – Cornell's women's lacrosse team was tripped up by perennial power Aurora, 15-6, in Wednesday's regular-season finale at Spartan Athletic Park.
A few hours following the conclusion, coach
Meredith Meier's Rams were awarded a first-round home game in the six-team NACC Tournament which starts this weekend.
Cornell (7-8 overall) finished in a tie for fourth place in the NACC standings with Milwaukee School of Engineering at 5-4. The Rams won the head-to-head meeting, 10-7, on April 6.
The Rams will play host to No. 5 seed MSOE (5-11 overall) in a quarterfinal game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
Second-place Aurora (11-6 overall, 8-1 NACC) took control early against the Rams and built an 8-2 lead at intermission. The Spartans outshot the Rams for the game, 32-15.
Sabrina Ibanez posted two goals and five ground balls to pace the Rams.
