Box Score 2 MOUNT VERNON - For the first time since October of 2004, Cornell's women's tennis team upended rival Coe College 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Rams took both dual matches on the day, a 7-0 win over Simpson College occurred before the Rams took down the Kohawks.
On their way to victory for the first time in 21 years, junior
Mac Graves collected her 100th career win as a Ram after a comeback win at No. 2 singles against Coe in the third set. Graves is the 15th player in program history to reach the 100-win milestone, and second this fall after
Audrey Small achieved the feat a few weeks prior.
The Kohawks started strong in doubles play taking the doubles point and all three matches.
Mac Graves and
Michaela Clark dropped only their second match as a duo together this season, 6-4 at No. 1, and the No. 2 pairing of
Annika Dox and
Audrey Small narrowly were defeated 6-4.
Cornell got things going during singles play thanks to a swift win by Small at No. 4, 6-1, 6-2 to put the Rams on the board. Clark at No. 1 followed suit with a straight set win of her own 6-4, 6-3.
Coe garnered their two singles wins at No. 5 and No. 6 both in straight sets to put the meet score to their advantage 3-2.
Mac Graves evened the score with a 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 2. The last match remaining was her twin sister,
Tansy Graves, who fought through for a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win in the third to clinch the dual.
Prior to the match with Coe, the Rams took down Simpson for the 7-0 sweep. All 11 Rams earned a victory against the Storm individually, including doubles wins from the duos of
Mac Graves/Clark, Dox/Small and
Mirabel Pinkerton/
Meredith Maxwell. Singles wins came from
Tansy Graves, Dox,
Jenna Benkufsky,
Isabella Wallin,
Ashley Drake and
Kortney Travis.
Women's tennis has earned the first Bremner Cup point of the 2025-2026 year for the Rams. The Kohawks now lead the series 4-1.
Coming up: The Rams return to conference play on the road at Illinois College and Monmouth College next weekend on Saturday, Oct. 4.
