MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's track & field teams started off the new year Saturday, hosting the Hilltop Invitational in the arena of the Small Athletic and Wellness Center.
 
The women swept the top four places in the 5000-meter run, led by sophomore Carley Seeley. Seeley finished first in a time of 19:27.45, Milar Little took second in 19:36.47, Zoe Peesel picked up third in 19:55.48 and Sophie Stumbo rounded out the quartet finishing fourth in 20:57.43
 
Senior Ava Claussen-Tubbs finished first in the mile (5:12.33). Lidia Dahlman took third in 5:17.40.
 
The Rams earned runner-up finishes from Hailey Carolan in the high jump (5-1.50) and the sprint medley team of Sia Bear, Willow Ziegler, Jayda Carnes and Murray Page (4:41.30). 
 
Cornell's 4x200 team of Bear, Ziegler, Jillian Shriver and Carolan placed third in 1:59.33.
 
Cornell's men swept all three relay races. The sprint medley team of Johnny Nguyen, Dalles Hernandez, Chase Staker and Jensen Meeker won with a time of 3:35.06 and 4x200 team of Nguyen, Hernandez, Zavion Jordan and Daniel Adelson finished first in 1:33.93.
 
Not to be outdone, the 4x400 squad of Hadley Beaty, Staker, Blaine Dohrmann and Meeker finished off the day winning with a time of 3:26.39.
 
Ethyn Chesnut finished fourth in the 3000 (9:16.31) and Jordan took fourth in the 60 (7.06) for the Rams.
 
Four SAW Arena records fell at the Hilltop Invitational. Triston Miller (unattached) established new marks in the high jump (7-0.75) and 60 hurdles (7.99). Augustana's Magnus Wells broke the weight throw record (60-5.25).
 
On the women's side, Addisyn Terpstra took down the arena record in the 60 hurdles (8.88), which was held by Cornell's Natalie McAllister (9.07 in 2023).
 
Coming up – The Rams travel to Waverly Friday to participate in the Friday Knight Lights hosted by Wartburg.
