MOUNT VERNON – Rams women's soccer team played a hard fought 90 minutes of soccer on Saturday at Cornell Soccer Field, before falling to Beloit (1-0).
Beloit (3-5-1 overall, 2-0-1 MWC) scored the only goal of the match at the eight-minute mark of the first half, when Grace Christos found the back of the net.
Cornell (2-8 overall, 0-4 MWC) attempted six shots for the game, with
Mia Belitz leading the way with three.
Rebecca Huerth,
Eva Plathe and
Vivian Rodriguez each finished with a shot. Belitz had the Rams only two shots on goal.
Senior goalkeeper
Sydney Newberg played all 90 minutes in the net, finishing with seven saves on Beloit's 21 shots.

Jillian Shriver, Plathe and Newberg were honored prior to the game for all they have contributed to the Rams women's soccer program.
Coming up – The Rams travel to Ripon, Wis. on Wednesday to face conference foe Ripon (4-6-1 overall, 1-2-1 MWC) at Hopp Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
