MADISON, WI. – The Cornell men's tennis team continued their spring season on Sunday afternoon with a road dual against UW-Superior at the John Powless Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The Yellow Jackets came away with a narrow 4-3 decision.
The Rams struck first winning at No. 3 doubles from the duo of
Zachary Ong and
Jack Saunders with a 6-1 scoreline.
Trent Devore and
Drew Campbell at No. 1, and
Sam Cumicek and
Henry Lambley at No. 2 fell 6-4 and 6-3 respectively.
In singles, Cornell picked up three straight set wins by Saunders at No. 2, Campbell at No. 5 and Cumicek at No. 6 to take the team score lead to 3-2. UW-Superior claimed the other three singles matches in straight sets at No 1, No. 3 and No. 4.
Saunders finished 2-0 individually on the day for the Rams.
Coming Up: The Rams host Central College on Sunday March 1 at 2pm for their cancer awareness match. First serve is set for 2pm.
