MOUNT VERNON – Cornell freshman
Kylen Bonner has been selected to the
2025-26 All-Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Second Team, as announced Thursday by the MWC office.
Bonner earned a spot on the six-player second unit following an outstanding first season with the Rams. He joined Grinnell's Tyler Copes (Newcomer of the Year) as the league's only freshmen to garner all-conference honors.
This is the fifth consecutive year the Rams have landed an all-MWC performer at the guard position under coach
Dave Schlabaugh.
The versatile 6-foot-2 Bonner led a young Cornell team in points (10.9 ppg), rebounds (4.1 rpg), assists (2.2 apg) and steals (2.1 spg). He shot 50.0 percent from the field and 74.2 percent from the foul line.
Bonner's 53 steals were second-most in the MWC and rank eighth all-time on Cornell's single-season list. He finished seventh in the league in free throw percentage. Bonner averaged 12.9 points in MWC play.
Bonner emerged as the team's floor leader in the second half of the season, scoring in double figures 11 consecutive games during one stretch. He netted a career-high 29 points at Lawrence Jan. 7.
Bonner was among eight first-year players to start a game for Cornell this season. The Rams finished 6-19 overall, 5-11 in the MWC.
