MOUNT VERNON - Junior
Tansy Graves became the 16th player in program history to eclipse the 100 career wins mark, as Cornell's women's tennis team ran their winning streak up to nine in a row Friday afternoon. The Rams swept a doubleheader against the University of Dubuque 7-0, and Bethany Lutheran College 7-0.
After a doubles victory, Graves became the third player this year to reach the 100 win milestone, joining fellow teammates
Audrey Small and
Mac Graves who achieved the feat this past fall. Graves sits 14th on the program's all time wins list.
Cornell (19-3) secured all three doubles matches against Dubuque to kick off the day.No. 1 duo of
Mac Graves and
Michaela Clark (6-1), No. 2 tandem of
Tansy Graves and
Annika Dox (7-5) and No. 3 partners Small and
Jenna Benkufsky (6-2) all took wins.
In singles, Clark,
Mac Graves,
Tansy Graves, Small, Benkufsky and Dox all rolled to straight set wins over the Spartans.
Against short-handed Bethany Lutheran, the Rams had little trouble sweeping the two doubles matches, thanks to wins by Clark and
Mac Graves at No. 1, as well as
Mirabel Pinkerton and
Meredith Maxwell at No. 2. Small, Benkufsky and
Kortney Travis were straight set victors in singles.
Isabella Wallin finished the sweep for the Rams with a 6-3 5-7 10-7 win at No. 3.
