MOUNT VERNON – Cornell took two from Eureka (0-8) on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Van Matre Family Softball Complex, winning game one 8-0 in 5 innings and game two 3-1.
Game 1 – Junior
Corrin Kennedy got the Rams going early with a two-run homer (fourth of the year) in the bottom of the first.
Alexa Corona singled to start the inning.
Cornell (9-1) broke the game open in the fourth, scoring four runs.
Brianna Risley started the inning with single to left field, followed by two walks to load the bases.
Brook Furman singled to centerfield, scoring Risley. Corona singled to bring in
Monet Roelle. Kennedy rounded out the scoring with a double to centerfield that brought in Corona and Furman.
The Rams out hit the Devils 10-2, with Corona, Kennedy and Risley each with two hits. Kennedy picked up four RBIs and Corona scored twice.
Daelynn Rhoades picked up her third win of the season. Rhoades gave up one hit, striking out three Devils.
Game 2 – In a pitchers dual
Lexi Ellermeier picked up her fourth win of the season. Ellemeier allowed one hit in six innings of work, striking out eight.
The Rams had five hits, with Furman picking up two of the five. Kennedy,
Elise Oleson and
Lauren Summers each had one.
Linnea Drever, Furman and Kennedy each scored for Cornell.
Coming up – Rams continue their home stand Sunday against Loras (13-3). First game starts at 1:00 pm.
