MOUNT VERNON – Junior goalie
Nathan Diveley notched a career-best 26 saves in Cornell's 21-2 setback to four-time defending NACC champion Aurora in men's lacrosse action Wednesday at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
Diveley faced 63 total shots from the Spartans (4-3 overall, 3-0 NACC) through three quarters before his work was done. He accumulated 19 saves in the opening 30 minutes and also finished with a team-high six ground balls.
Aurora, the unanimous favorite to claim the 2026 NACC title, displayed its explosiveness in building a 14-2 halftime lead. The Spartans netted the game's final 14 goals and finished with a 63-28 advantage in ground balls.
Sophomore
Kaden Weaver put Cornell (3-4 overall, 1-2 NACC) on the scoreboard with an assisted goal from
Charley Kobets at the five-minute mark of the first period. Freshman
Alexander Dukatz posted Cornell's second goal early in the second period.
Tyler Foster accounted for six of Cornell's 19 shots. He was joined by
Caden Lynch and
Elias Notsch with three ground balls apiece. Notsch logged the final 15 minutes in goal and recorded two saves.
Aurora had 15 players score a point.
Coming up – The Rams are back home Saturday to face NACC contender Concordia (Wis.) at 4 p.m. Concordia (8-1 overall, 2-1 NACC) is picked second in the NACC Preseason Poll.
