MOUNT VERNON – Cornell women's lacrosse team outscored Concordia 4-1 in the fourth period Saturday, but it was not enough as they fell 10-9 at Van Metre Field at Ash Park.
The Rams (1-7, 0-2 NACC) scored three goals in the last 2:18 of the game, to put pressure on Concordia (3-5, 1-1 NACC).
Cassie Clay picked up two of her three goals and
Brynn Miroslavich scored her second goal of the game during the run.
Miroslavich scored her first goal of the game at the 10:00 mark of the fourth period, to pull the Rams within three of the Falcons. Emily Robertson then scored what would be the game winner for Concordia six minutes into the fourth, before the Rams made their charge.
Ava Ferencz scored three points (two goals, one assist) and picked up nine ground balls for the Rams.
Natalie Hudgins and
Evi Reedy each had a goal.
Cassie Clay added an assist to go with her team high three goals.
Kailey McFarlin secured five ground balls and Miroslavich picked up four for Cornell.
Ilsa Jeffery and Miroslavich led the Rams with four caused turnovers each.
Goalie
Hannah Miech and
Leila Velez split time in the net, combining for nine saves and five ground balls.
Coming up – The Rams are at home Wednesday to face Lawrence (0-6, 0-1 NACC) at Van Metre Field at Ash Park. Game time is 6:30 pm.
