MOUNT VERNON - The Cornell College men's tennis team hosted the Morgan's Message match against Lake Forest on Saturday afternoon. The Rams (14-10, 4-1 MWC) fell to the Foresters (14-6, 5-1 MWC), 7-0 at home on the Hilltop.
The Rams started the meet a point down after doubles, with 6-2 scorelines at No. 1 and No. 2, and 6-1 at No. 3.
Moving into singles, the Rams fought hard, falling to the Foresters in three full third-set tiebreakers. Junior Trent Devore fell at No. 1, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3; freshman Jack Saunders at No. 2, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-0; and senior Zachary Ong fell at the No. 3 spot 5-7, 6-2, 6-0. At No. 4, sophomore Drew Campbell lost 6-3, 6-2, and freshman Henry Lambley fell at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2. Junior Mills Arnold finished the day, falling at No. 6, 6-1, 6-0.
Coming up - The Rams travel to play the Grinnell Pioneers at Grinnell, Iowa, tomorrow. First serve is set for 10:00 AM.
