GRINNELL, IA - The Cornell College men's tennis team traveled to Grinnell, Iowa, to play #20 Grinnell College, falling 7-0 to the Pioneers (17-5, 6-0 MWC).
The Rams finish 4-2 in the MWC, earning them a third place finish in the conference for the fourth consecutive season. Cornell will take on #42 Lake Forest in the semi-finals of the MWC Team Tournment on the Friday of Apr 24.
The Rams (14-11, 4-2 MWC) lost a tightly contested 7-6 (6) match at No. 1 and two hard-fought 6-3 matches at No. 2 and No. 3 to lose the doubles point at the start of the meet.
In singles, the Rams held tough, but fell in straight sets from No. 1 - No. 6. Freshman Jack Saunders battled to a 6-3, 6-4 scoreline at No. 2, and at No. 3 and No. 5, senior Zachary Ong and freshman Henry Lambley found themselves 6-2, 6-0, and 6-2, 6-2 days respectively.
Coming up - The Rams will travel up to Madison, WI, to participate in the MWC Team Tournament on Friday, Apr 24, and the MWC Individual Championships, from Saturday to Sunday, Apr 25 to Apr 26.
